Medieval stone sleepers in Blidinje Nature Reserve

In the area of the Blidinje Nature Park, in two large necropolises and several other different locations, there are stone sleepers of the Middle Ages – Christian tombstones from the period from the 12th to the 14th centuries; stećci that with their beauty and history defy oblivion and testify to us about some other bygone times.
The Dugo polje necropolis is on the list of 30 medieval stećci necropolises that were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2016. They are spread over the area of the Jablanica municipality, on the road to Kedžara. The necropolis consists of 150 stećci, of which the majority are slabs and chests, and some of the stećci are decorated. The stećci are in good condition and are one of the most important cultural landmarks in the Blidinje Nature Park.
