According to the legend, Diva Grabovčeva was a girl from the Croatian people who lived in the 17th century. She is special because despite pressure, she refused to marry the Turkish Tahir-beg Kopčić. She paid with her life for this decision and thus forever became a symbol of purity, martyrdom, and Catholicism. Every year, a holy mass is held in honor of Diva, always on the first sunday after Petrovdan, attended by several thousand pilgrims from the entire region. The heroine Diva Grabovčeva has been celebrated in numerous songs, books, and films, with one of the most notable works being the opera “Diva Grabovčeva,” which is also the first opera in the Croatian language in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
