HPD Prenj 1933 Mostar: Guardians of the mountaineering tradition since 1933
HPD Prenj was founded in 1933 in Mostar as a branch of HPD – Matica Zagreb. The founding assembly consisted of intellectuals from Mostar at that time.
During the years of war, the society ceased its activities, but at the end of the war on November 29, 1994, its work was revived, and the society received its current name, Hrvatsko planinarsko društvo “Prenj 1933” Mostar.
Today, the society boasts a large number of active members, manages two mountain houses, and actively organizes numerous activities for both its members and the wider public. Traditional ascents, mountaineering schools, alpine courses, expert lectures, and various excursions and social gatherings are just part of the story that continues the original idea of showcasing all the beauty and splendor of our mountains to the world.
The society also owns the Munika Mountain House in the Blidinje Nature Park, which is used for accommodation and hosting various mountaineering courses and lectures.
