Park Prirode Blidinje, besides its natural beauty, is enriched with various religious structures that further adorn this region, the result of human effort that has transformed over decades of diligent work into magnificent buildings.
Just as throughout history, religion plays a crucial role in the park area today. In the past century, there was a need for Mass services for pastoral families and all those who visited the mountain areas for various reasons. Today, ceremonies are celebrated for those who come to Blidinje for spiritual renewal, nature retreats, and day trips or longer excursions with their families.
Few know that there are even 3 large churches in the Park area, each with its own architecture and story, unique in its own way. Alongside the three churches, there are numerous beautiful chapels in the area where masses are held during anniversaries and celebrations of saints after whom the chapels are named. Additionally, there are several crosses that are over 5 meters high and are located on excellent viewpoints from which almost the entire park is visible.
All of this positions Park Prirode Blidinje on the map of religious tourism in Herzegovina and the entire region. People come here for spiritual renewal, Mass ceremonies, pilgrimages, and in search of the history of Christianity. All of this, combined with being in nature, is an increasingly attractive lure for tourists and local residents who come to Blidinje every Sunday for Mass.
St. Elijah the Thunderer Church
Since the beginning of this millennium, more precisely since 2005, the bells of the Church of St. Elijah the Thunderer have been heard in Masna Luka.
St. John Church Glavosijeka
In the area of Risovac, near the Necropolis of Stećak Risovac and the old church, and near the Ski-Centre, there is a place called Krš.
Church of Our Lady
The Church of Our Lady of the Snows is located in the Blidinje Nature Park on Barzonja, near Blidinje Lake.
Franciscan House of Prayer
Located in the heart of the Blidinje Nature Park, on the slopes of Mount Čvrsnica, the Franciscan House of Prayer in Masna Luka is a peaceful oasis situated at 1204 meters above sea level.
