This bike route takes you through the most beautiful and popular areas of the Blidinje Nature Park. It’s a true small tourist tour of the Park in a leisurely manner, on two wheels and in line with green destination principles, without any environmental pollution.
The tour starts from the heart of the entire park, which is Masna Luka. With unparalleled views of the magnificent Čvrsnica and a ride along the edges of the forest of endemic black pine trees, the entire route follows an asphalt road that doesn’t require much physical exertion. Along with this starting point and the attraction that Masna Luka is, the route also takes you to the Dugo Polje stećak necropolis. Exiting onto the main road connecting Posušje and Tomislavgrad to Jablanica, you need to turn right towards the necropolis. It’s enough to say that UNESCO recognized the beauty of these centuries-old stećaks and placed them under its protection. Along with historical insights next to the necropolis, you’ll return along the same road towards Blidinje Lake. The plain between these two points is as long as 6.5 km, and you’ll ride past the Hajdučke Vrleti, the lower cave of Mijat Tomić, the Chapel of St. Anthony, and finally reach Blidinje Lake. The long asphalt road, where you practically don’t need to turn a meter, allows for a leisurely ride with sightseeing, which can be done for hours and hours. Throughout the journey, Čvrsnica and Vran mountains accompany you closely. The views of their high peaks will leave you in awe, and all that beauty will call you to try hiking and come “up there” to be part of all that beauty.
Upon reaching the lake, you’ll also come across the Blidinje Mountain Lodge, whose location is the best possible. Next to the lake is the best place to rest your body, soul, and eyes. Sitting and listening to the turbulent mountain water would be quite enough in today’s world, but in addition to that, you’ll feel the gentle mountain air caressing your face. Beyond the lake, your gaze will be captivated by Jelinak. It’s that green peak of Čvrsnica that hangs over the lake to make the whole landscape even more beautiful.
Enjoying the pure delight next to the lake, the same asphalt road leads you back to Masna Luka, offering another opportunity to enjoy the diverse beauty of the Blidinje Nature Park. Ultimately, it’s always recommended to descend to the Church of St. Elijah in Masna Luka and see why that place is the center of everything, and after visiting it, end the tour at the Visitor Center Visit Blidinje.
