Tour of Blidinje Nature Park "Hajduk Cycling Route"
This bike route takes you through beautiful landscapes, starting from Masna Luka, passing through Badnji and the Ski Resort to the stećak necropolis at Risovac. It then goes to the Dugo Polje necropolis, which is protected by UNESCO. The entire route passes through the center of the Blidinje Nature Park, offering excellent views of Vran and Čvrsnica, and for much of the way, Blidinje Lake and Risovac.
The tour starts from the Blidinje Nature Park administrative building. Immediately at the start, it descends to Masna Luka and visits the Church of St. Elijah. After visiting the church and the Franciscan house of prayer, this bike tour goes through the beautiful landscapes of Badnji and Ivan Dolac, offering excellent views of the high slopes of Čvrsnica towering over Masna Luka and the Ski Resort. Passing through Ivan Dolac and through the area with many beautiful weekend houses, you reach an asphalt road (regional road R-419). After a few hundred meters on the asphalt road, you turn right onto the Ski Resort road for a short break (where you can also have a drink at the restaurant). After exploring the ski resort, this tour takes you back to the asphalt road, which continues further to the Risovac stećak necropolis. Near the stećaks is the old church in Risovac, and just before, along the road, you can see the new large church.
From these stećci to those known as Dugo Polje, you pass through the Risovac field dotted with cultivated meadows and small green hills, which gives the whole tour a special atmosphere where you feel like you’re on a lower plateau rather than in a high mountain area. After exploring the Dugo Polje stećak necropolis, which is also protected by UNESCO and contains as many as 150 stećci, the tour continues further along an asphalt road through the central part of the Blidinje Nature Park.
Along the long asphalt road towards Blidinje Lake, the views all around will leave you with the impression that the Blidinje Nature Park is indeed a special place of unparalleled beauty. Upon reaching the lake itself, you can enjoy and relax by the gentle sounds of its rippling waters swayed by the mountain breeze. After the lake, you need to pass along the edge of Dugo Polje towards the “forests of Boričevac,” and then through gravel and through the tall pine forest, emerge again onto the asphalt road to Masna Luka. After a few minutes on the asphalt, you reach the starting point of this tour, where it ends.
